AIO-5 Audio Guide - How to properly connect your headset

The AIO-5 series devices offer robust functionality for audio and Bluetooth connectivity, designed to keep riders informed and entertained on the road. However, due to specific system configurations, some users may have questions about Bluetooth pairing, headset compatibility, audio playback, and voice control.

In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know to set up and optimise your audio experience with the AIO-5 series.

Connecting Your Bluetooth Headset to AIO-5

One of the most common questions we get asked is: “Does the AIO-5 Connect Directly to Motorcycle Headsets?”

The answer is no, AIO-5 does not connect directly to Bluetooth headsets. Instead, the Bluetooth headset is to paired directly with your smartphone.

This design is intentional, to ensure highest quality audio, with minimum delay. Additionally, it allows you to turn off the motorcycle and walk away for a break, with your headset still being connected with the phone.

How It Works:

Pair Your Bluetooth Headset with Your Smartphone: Connect the headset to your phone, which will transmit audio through CarPlay or Android Auto on your AIO-5.

Connect Your Phone with AIO-5: This connection will enable

Compatibility: AIO-5 doesn't have a specific requirements for headset. As long as it connects to your phone via bluetooth, sound will be sent to it.

Understanding Audio Playback on the AIO-5

Does the AIO-5 Support Built-in Speakers or Music Storage?

The AIO-5 is not equipped with built-in speakers, it cannot play audio without headset

The AIO-5 doesn't support music through SD card, all audio and media have to be played through you Smartphone.

Audio Options for AIO-5:

Mirroring Audio Apps via CarPlay or Android Auto: Use your smartphone’s audio apps like Spotify or Apple Music through CarPlay or Android Auto. Audio will be transmitted directly from Phone to the headset.

Alternative Speaker Solutions: Some riders may choose to use external speakers with additional accessories. However, please note that Chigee does not officially support such setups. We recommend using our products as designed for optimal performance and reliability.

Using Voice Control on CarPlay and Android Auto

Voice Control for CarPlay Users: With CarPlay, the AIO-5 seamlessly integrates voice command features. You can use Siri to navigate or control audio without taking your hands off the handlebars.

Voice Control Limitations on Android Auto: Unfortunately, Android Auto doesn’t support voice control through Bluetooth headsets due to the system’s Wi-Fi-based voice command routing. However, the latest beta version 2.9.2 of the AIO-5 Lite has added Bluetooth headset support for Android Auto, enabling voice assistant input. If this new feature works smoothly, it will also be included in future updates for the AIO-5 Play and AIO-5 Play for BMW. Therefore, we encourage AIO-5 Lite users to upgrade to version 2.9.2 and share any feedback or issues.

Current android auto design requires the AIO-5 Lite/Play to use its built-in microphone (located at the bottom of the device) for voice commands. Due to road noise, the microphone will struggle to pick up commands effectively while riding.
