SR-1 Radar With a CHIGEE AIO Display: What You Get After Pairing

The SR-1 radar warns you with LED indicators in your line of sight and a light facing backwards. That is a complete system, and plenty of riders run it with no display at all. Pair it with a CHIGEE AIO-5 or AIO-6 series display and you get more: an on-screen alert, sound from the speaker, a separate radar view and easy access to five settings that tune the radar to the way you ride. The two devices talk over Bluetooth, and each works on its own.

What the SR-1 does on its own

LED indicator from the kit: steady amber when a vehicle approaches, rapid flash when it closes in too fast

The CHIGEE SR-1 is a millimeter-wave blind spot monitoring radar. It watches the space behind and beside your bike, tracks approaching vehicles and warns you earlier the faster someone is closing in. Closing speed comes first, distance second.

Without a display, the radar warns through two channels. The first is the LED indicators in your line of sight: steady amber when a vehicle enters the range and approaches, a rapid flash when it closes in fast enough that you should check your mirror right away. Two levels are intentional: a single one would fire either too often or too late. The second channel is the LED bar on the module itself, facing backwards, which flashes at the driver behind you when they approach too fast.

Indicators in your peripheral vision work fast and never ask you to take your eyes off the road. The only thing they cannot tell you is exactly which side the vehicle is on and how far away it is. That is what the display adds.

What the display adds

Once paired, the indicators, the screen and the bar on the rear module all warn you at the same time

A CHIGEE display on a ride is rarely idle. It is showing navigation directions, CarPlay or music. Paired with the SR-1, the radar alert needs no switching: the moment the radar picks up an approaching vehicle, a red frame draws itself around the screen and a warning bar appears along the left edge. Whatever you had open stays where it was, and the alert sits on top of it. On top of that comes the sound from the display's speaker.

The second thing is a separate radar view, like on a ship. Your bike is the blue triangle in the centre, the vehicles around you are triangles: white when tracked, red when they are a threat. You can keep this view up on long motorway stretches and go back to the map when you need it. The frame appears whichever page is open.

The indicators from the kit keep doing their job, and with a display they are optional. If you prefer a clean cockpit, the radar works with the screen alone.

The SR-1 is a rider assistance system that improves your awareness of what is happening behind you. It does not replace your mirrors or your own judgement. Radar has its limits; we cover them in How Does Motorcycle Blind Spot Radar Work?, and we explain why radar beats a camera on a motorcycle in Radar, Camera, Lidar or Ultrasonic.

How to pair the radar with the display

The SR-1 connects to the display over Bluetooth (BLE 5.0), with no cable between the two devices. You pair it in the display's settings, under Functions, where blind spot monitoring lets you select the millimeter-wave radar. From then on the display switches monitoring from the cameras to the radar, shows its alerts on screen and plays the sound, and the radar settings are right in front of you without reaching for your phone.

One rule: a display connects to one radar at a time. Two bikes with an SR-1 and one AIO-6? Before pairing with the second one, delete the first pairing in the settings. The same goes for the AIO-5 EVO.

Five settings that protect every alert

The same settings are available on the display and in the CHIGEE GO app

Too many alerts turn into noise. After a few dozen unnecessary ones you stop reacting, and that habit does not disappear on the motorway. That is why the radar has settings. Without a display you change them in the CHIGEE GO app on your phone; with a display you have them on the screen in front of you, which is simply faster and more convenient.

Sensitivity. Three levels: low, medium, high. A weekend rider on twisty roads, already scanning the mirrors every fifteen seconds or so, wants alerts late, only for a real close approach. A commuter, half an hour into a traffic jam, wants them early, because fatigue lets mirror checks slip. Same radar, two settings.

Activation speed. You choose the speed from which the radar warns at all: 0, 10, 30 or 50 km/h. A radar that beeps while you sit at the lights or filter through traffic turns into noise. Telling it "I only care above this speed" protects every alert it does send.

Rear warning light. The bar at the back signals your presence to the driver behind you. Rules on extra lighting differ between countries. If yours require approval or do not allow it, you switch off the light alone and detection stays fully active.

Speaker sound. It plays only through the display's speaker and does not go to a Bluetooth intercom in your helmet. If you already run an intercom or earbuds, you can mute it and let the red frame do the work.

Collision warning. A separate, higher tier of alert, triggered when the radar sees a very high closing speed. Some riders want it always on. Others find it fires in situations where they would rather have quiet. You decide.

After a week with the SR-1 and a display, the radar you ride with is no longer a generic one. It is yours. If you already ride with a CHIGEE display, the SR-1 radar is what comes next. If you do not, both work on their own and wait for each other.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a CHIGEE display to use the SR-1?

No. The SR-1 works on its own through the LED indicators, and you change its settings in the CHIGEE GO app. A display adds an on-screen alert, sound, the radar view and settings at hand without your phone.

Which CHIGEE displays work with the SR-1?

AIO-5 and AIO-6 series displays, over Bluetooth (BLE 5.0). The XR-2 cannot pair with the radar; alerts then stay on the indicators only.

Do I have to install the indicators from the kit if I have a display?

No. Once paired, the radar works normally with the screen alone. The indicators are for riders who want an extra signal in their line of sight.

How far back does the SR-1 detect vehicles?

Up to 70 metres behind and to the side, with a 77 GHz sensor. The moment of the alert depends on closing speed, so a fast car gets flagged earlier than a slow one.

Does the SR-1 brake or take control of the bike?

No. It tells you when something behind or beside you deserves a look. Checking the mirror and deciding what to do are still yours.

Will the radar flood me with alerts in traffic?

You set that yourself: activation speed of 0, 10, 30 or 50 km/h and sensitivity, which decides whether alerts come earlier or later.

Can I turn off the rear warning light?

Yes, from the display or the app. The radar keeps detecting as normal.

Can the SR-1 handle rain and a pressure washer?

It is rated IP68 and IP69 and works from -25°C to 65°C. Thick mud on the module is worth washing off, as it weakens detection.
