4440km with AIO-6 - Road Trip across Europe

Some trips just stay with you forever. We set off on an eight-day motorcycle journey from Poland all the way to Corsica – over 4400 kilometers of asphalt, twisty roads, and breathtaking views. Through Austria, the Alps, and by ferry to the French island. In this blog, we share our impressions and show how CHIGEE devices make stress-free travel possible.

Start – Toruń

We hit the road on two motorcycles:

The first day was mostly highways – over 950 kilometers. The ride from Poland all the way to the Alps at an average speed of about 110 km/h went smoothly and uneventfully.

Großglockner – the highest point of our trip

We stopped at the famous Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe platform in Austria. The view of the Pasterze Glacier and Grossglockner (3798 m above sea level) was simply stunning. It was worth the detour from the main road – moments like this stay with you.

Ferry Livorno – Bastia

After crossing Italy, we boarded the ferry from Livorno to Bastia with our motorcycles. A few hours of peace, sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea, and planning the next leg of the route – a perfect moment to relax.

Corsica – the twisties of dreams

We spent the day in Corsica purely enjoying ourselves. We circled the entire island in 3 days – the roads were twisty and fun to ride. Though to be fair, even after switching to lighter clothes, the temperatures around 30°C were a bit exhausting on a motorcycle.

AIO-6 LTE navigation – performed perfectly even in difficult conditions. High temperatures didn’t affect it at all, and the strong Mediterranean sun didn’t reduce screen visibility thanks to its 2000 nits brightness.

Importantly, with the CHIGEE GO app we logged the whole route, speeds, stops.

How was the connectivity?

  • We mainly used the OsmAnd app with offline maps for navigation (and Yanosik in the background while in Poland).
  • LTE signal on the AIO-6 unit was excellent and smoothly switched between towers. The SIM card included with the AIO-6 LTE works across almost all of Europe.
  • We use iPhones, so we navigated with Apple CarPlay – it worked fantastically well throughout the trip, with a very stable connection.
  • We use Cardo Packtalk Edge intercoms for communication. When we weren't talking, we used them to listen to music, controlled from the AIO-6/AIO-5 screens.

Honda CB500X + AIO-5 Lite – still reliable

AIO-5 is still performing perfectly. It’s been mounted on our Honda CB500X for over a year and a half and works just as it did on day one. Mounted on the ADV bar it offers excellent visibility, and the CG Pro remote allows for easy control of navigation and music without taking your hands off the bars.

AIO-6 LTE with BMW base and dashcam

AIO-6 is a class of its own. Mounted on the BMW R1250GS using the original BMW base, it allowed control via the original WonderWheel and read motorcycle data. The 6-inch display with 2000 nits brightness provided great visibility throughout all 4000+ kilometers.

Pro Tip: The screen protector for AIO-6 not only protects against scratches, but also features an anti-glare coating – the lightly matte finish improves visibility even more, without reducing sharpness or color vibrancy.

Planning a route across Europe?

We rode 4400 kilometers in 8 days. A bit of asphalt, a bit of mountains, a bit of sea. With the right gear, everything is easier – and more enjoyable.
