The Girls Take Their First Steps Off-Road at Strefa Enduro

Klaudia, Ewelina and Madzia ride motorcycles every day, but none of them had ever been off-road. So they went to a one-day enduro training at Strefa Enduro. We went along with cameras.

Strefa Enduro near Stryków

Strefa Enduro is Adam Chyciński's base near Stryków, just outside Łódź. In summer Adam trains riders here, and in winter he moves his enduro training to Portugal. He built the base himself: a practice yard marked out with old tyres, surrounded by meadows and sandy tracks for off-road riding. It feels a bit raw and makeshift, and cosy at the same time.

Adam is a patient instructor. Patient enough for a whole day with three beginners. He kept motivating the girls and kept pushing them towards harder exercises.

Spoiler: the bikes went down

The first one ended up in the grass before anyone had even got on it, during an exercise where you walk the bike beside you. Then came riding in the yard and the moment when Ewelina is down, Klaudia stops to help her and drops her own bike next to her. She turns around and Madzia is lying behind her. A laugh, bikes back up and on they went.

Fear doesn't go away on its own

Before the trip the girls heard that this wasn't for them and that they probably wouldn't manage. They half believed it. During the first exercises their hands were shaking and all they could think was "I can't do this". They did it. At the end Adam took them on a ride around the area, and they made it through without a single crash. They came back happier than they had been in a long time.

As Klaudia says in the video, fear doesn't disappear by itself. You have to go through it. Off-road champions? Not yet. But they want more.

How the standing figure eight went and what else happened in the yard, you'll see in the video. Klaudia tells the story herself, from her own point of view.
