Wi-Fi Channel Switching – Improve Your Wireless Connection

To help you get the most stable wireless connection, your CHIGEE device now includes a new feature: Manual Wi-Fi Channel Switching. If you use Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, screen mirroring, or download riding videos, this update can significantly improve performance.

Why Wi-Fi Channel Switching Matters

Your CHIGEE device uses fast 5 GHz Wi-Fi to connect with your phone. This connection powers features such as:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay / Wired CarPlay
  • Wireless Android Auto
  • Huawei HiCar™
  • CarLink and other screen-mirroring apps
  • Downloading and playing back riding videos

In some situations, the default Wi-Fi channel may not work ideally. This feature allows you to change it manually and get a smoother connection.

Common Issues Caused by Wi-Fi Interference

If your phone struggles to connect or you notice unstable performance, you may experience:

  • Connection failures or frequent disconnects
  • Black screens or interruptions in CarPlay / Android Auto
  • Laggy video playback
  • Slow download speeds
  • Different performance depending on the phone model

These issues often come from external factors:

  • Different countries restrict certain Wi-Fi channels
  • Phone brands may activate different channels depending on region
  • Wi-Fi interference at home, in the garage, or outdoors

Changing the channel can help bypass these limitations.

How to Switch Wi-Fi Channels

On your CHIGEE device, open:

Settings → Features → Wi-Fi Channel Switching

Choose one of the available channels and test which gives you the best connection. Phones may behave differently, so feel free to try multiple options.

How to Use This Feature

  1. Select a different Wi-Fi channel in the menu.
  2. Reconnect your phone to CarPlay / Android Auto / screen mirroring.
  3. Check if the connection is more stable.
  4. If not, pick another channel and test again.

Tip: The optimal channel depends on your phone and your environment. Testing 2–3 channels usually finds the best one.

Recommendations

  • If everything works normally: No need to change anything.
  • If you experience issues: Try switching channels step by step to find the most stable option.

Required Firmware Versions

To use Wi-Fi Channel Switching, please update your device to one of the following firmware versions:

  • AIO-6 LTE / MAX: V1.7.5 or newer
  • AIO-5 Lite: Coming soon
  • AIO-5 Play & AIO-5 Play for BMW: Coming soon

At the time of realease of this blog post, Wi-Fi channel switching is only available on beta software. Beta versions can be unstable.
