  1. Compatibility covers the BMW R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure with factory Riding Assistant. Supported model years and installation requirements are listed in the RM‑1 user manual. RM‑1 for BMW does not work with the CHIGEE SR‑1 Radar or CHIGEE displays.
  2. Mounts at the factory mirror points and connects to the factory connector, with no cutting of the wiring. Tighten the bolts as described in the manual. Route the cable so it is not pinched or pulled tight when you turn the handlebars.
  3. RM‑1 for BMW has no radar of its own and does not detect vehicles. It shows alerts from the factory BMW Riding Assistant with Lane Change Warning, which must be fitted and active on the motorcycle. Alert performance and timing depend on that system, road conditions and surrounding traffic.
  4. The stem indicator is an aid, not permission to change lanes. Check your mirror and look over your shoulder before every lane change. Riders are responsible for safe riding and for checking regulations in every country of use, including rules on mirrors and their type approval.
  5. Wide-angle glass shows more, but the distance and size of vehicles in the reflection can look different than in a flat mirror. Adjust the mirrors and check your field of view before riding. Fold the mirrors back out before you return to the road. The mirrors resist rain and dust; do not aim a pressure washer at the stems with indicators.

Fit and setup

Which motorcycles does RM‑1 for BMW fit?

RM‑1 for BMW is designed exclusively for the BMW R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure with factory Riding Assistant. It replaces the original mirrors and mounts to the factory mirror points. Check the user manual for model years.

How do the mirrors for the factory BMW radar differ from the mirrors for the CHIGEE SR‑1 Radar?

Both versions share the same mirror and glass. The connection and alert source differ. The mirrors for the factory BMW radar fit only the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure with factory Riding Assistant and show its alerts in the mirror stems. The mirrors for the CHIGEE SR‑1 Radar fit other motorcycles with M10 mirror mounts and show the alerts from the SR‑1 Radar, which can also send them to a CHIGEE display.

Do I also need the SR‑1 Radar?

No. RM‑1 for BMW shows the alerts from your factory Riding Assistant, and it does not connect to the SR‑1 Radar.

My bike does not have Riding Assistant. Can I use these mirrors?

No. These mirrors need factory Riding Assistant to show alerts, and they do not work with the SR‑1 Radar. The mirrors for the CHIGEE SR‑1 Radar do not fit the R 1300 GS or R 1300 GS Adventure either.

Can I see the alerts on my CHIGEE display?

No. RM‑1 for BMW shows the factory alerts in the mirror stems only. It cannot send them to a CHIGEE display.

Do I need to cut or modify any wiring?

No. RM‑1 for BMW plugs into the factory mirror connector. There is nothing to cut and nothing to rewire.  2

Radar alerts

Does RM‑1 for BMW have its own radar?

No. RM‑1 for BMW does not detect traffic. It displays the alerts from the factory BMW Riding Assistant.

When do the stem lights come on?

When Lane Change Warning detects a vehicle in the lane next to you, the indicator in that mirror stem lights up. The light is a backup, not permission, so glance before you change lanes.  4
